Using Able Spacer

For use with Metered Dose Inhalers

Able Spacer is designed to assist with metered dose inhaler (MDI) aerosol medication delivery. It helps deliver medication from your MDI to your lungs by improving coordination and medication deposition.

Please read all instructions for your Able Spacer before your first use. Always remember your MDI canister contains the medicine your doctor has prescribed for you. When using Able Spacer, only use as many puffs as directed by your doctor.

How to Use Your Able Spacer

1. Remove the mouthpiece cap from both your MDI and from the Able Spacer

2. Place the MDI mouthpiece into the MDI adaptor port at the end of Able Spacer. Be sure the protective flaps of the port have been properly opened.

3. Hold the Able Spacer and the MDI together and shake them 2 or 3 times.

4. Place the mouthpiece of the Able Spacer in your mouth, closing the lips tightly around the mouthpiece.

5. Exhale normally and press down firmly on the MDI one time to release one puff of medication. Immediately begin inhaling slowly and deeply THROUGH THE MOUTH until a full breath is taken. If the coaching signal sounds, this is an indication that your are inhaling too fast, continue inhaling more slowly.

6. Remove the Able Spacer from your mouth, hold your breath for 5 to 10 seconds (to improve medication deposition) before exhaling normally.

7. If your doctor has prescribed more than one dose (puff) of medication, you should wait at least 30 seconds between puffs (or follow manufacturers recommended waiting time between puffs) and repeat steps 3 to 6 as necessary. Please introduce NO MORE THAN ONE PUFF at a time into the Able Spacer and inhale between each puff.

8. After use, remove the MDI from the adaptor port and replace the mouthpiece cap on your MDI. For convenience you may open the Able Spacer and store your MDI inside.
